New streaming service from the company will be free
Amazon is preparing a new streaming platform that will work for free. Monetization, in this case, will be based on ad serving.According to The Information, this platform, which will be called Free Dive, will be made available through Fire TV. The portal also reveals that it is being developed by IMDB, which is a subsidiary of the North American technology giant.Since it will be free, the platform will only have available programs and series with a few years of age. The company is now in negotiations with several studios to begin composing the catalog of titles. The first rumors pointing to the development of a similar platform came in 2017, with Amazon denying any investment in that area. At the time, the company of Jeff Bezos commented that "there were no plans to create a free, ad-based version of Prime Video." Based on the details published by The Information, this will not be a free version of Prime Video, but a distinct service that will allow the brand to compete with similar offers from Roku and Vudu, while creating new advertising spaces that can generate a significant financial backing for the company.
