A nanotecnologia que vai mudar as viagens aéreas
Nanotechnology to change air travel
In a statement sent to Lusa today, INL explains that it has developed, in partnership with the Center for Nanotechnology, Technical, Functional and Intelligent Materials (CeNTI), a "practical way to show passengers by plane how nanotechnology will change the travel experience in commercial aviation in the coming years. "The demonstration translates into an interactive exhibition, installed in the departure zone of Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, between the next Monday and Friday, which will have a model that reproduces the central section of an airplane incorporating a set of technologies developed by INL.Among those technologies are 3D food printing, flexible solar panels, gesture interaction for multimedia system control, infrared cabin light control, wireless mobile device loading, antibacterial coatings and even edible, sustainable and biodegradable packaging for preservation of food, which eliminate waste and enhance food security. This initiative, part of the nanotechnorte.PT Project and financed by the North-South Program20, states the text, "was designed to demonstrate, in a practical and simple way, the potential of nanotechnology to change our lives for the better and, in this case, provide a more comfortable, convenient and safe air travel experience. ""Through this exhibition, passengers at Porto Airport will be able to realize that nanotechnology is behind many technological innovations that, very soon, will be the new normal", emphasizes INL.

INL also states that the objective of the exhibition is "to reinforce the importance that nanotechnology has been acquiring in the Northern region of Portugal, as a territory of innovation capable of integrating new materials and technologies in different areas of activity and value chains, with competitive advantages for the Industry and products with higher quality and safer for the consumer and end user ".
