iPhone 8 and Galaxy S9 Plus lead top-selling smartphone ranking in May
The competition for dominance of the mobile device market in the world always ends with Samsung or Apple in the top positions, and in May, there was a technical tie between the Apple company and the South Korean, with sales of the iPhone 8 and the Galaxy S9 Plus in the top position.

Those who came up with the results were the consulting firm Counterpoint Research, which also revealed that the iPhone 8, the simplest model of Apple's main line of handsets, accounts for 2.4% of total world market sales, even surpassing iPhone sales X, the company's premium device, which ranked third in the survey with 23%. The Korean manufacturer, with the Galaxy S9 Plus, also reached 2.4% in sales in May 2018.

Considering only the top 10, Apple also came out ahead with three devices in the listing, while Samsung appeared twice - with the S9 Plus and Galaxy S9, this in sixth position. In addition, devices from Chinese companies also made a presence in the listing, including the giants Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo and Huawei.
Although Apple has concentrated its efforts to leverage iPhone X sales with several marketing campaigns, it is likely that the device has not reached the top position in the search due to its high price.
In April of this year, Apple's premium device was in third place among the top selling smartphones, behind the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus. Meanwhile, Apple's recent advertising campaigns were enough to secure the lead of the iPhone 8 in May 2018 with a technical draw with the Galaxy S9 Plus.
