Brand will "embrace" 5G with 8GB memories
Samsung continues to solidify its leadership position in memory technology. His plans for 5G-ready smartphones include introducing new 8GB memories based on the LPDDR5 architecture, considered by the company as the first in the 10-nanometer class. The new mobile Internet technology will be resource-demanding, and the manufacturer also hopes to cope with the growth of artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in the coming years.According to Samsung, the memories of 8GB LPDDR5 will increase data transfers up to 6,400 Mb / s, about 1.5 times faster than the current chips of the top devices. In this way, the memories can send 51.2 GB of data (14 movies in digital Full HD format) per second. There will also be another version of the RAM module, for transfers of 5,500 Mb / s.The manufacturer also left the promise that its new RAM will reduce energy consumption by about 30% compared to current modules, resulting in longer battery life and equipment performance.Samsung says that the operating tests and the validation of the memory prototype are complete. These will start being produced at their Pyeongtaek factory in South Korea as soon as the market for 5G smartphones boot up. Rumor has it that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10 may be the first to debut the new memories.
