"The Walking Dead AR" brings augmented reality to the zombie universe
In the video game market, augmented reality is not just about Pokemon Go. For zombie fans, there are also apps that use the real world to design virtual versions of these creatures.The new app in the AMC series, The Walking Dead: Our World, is a free mobile game that uses augmented reality to generate apocalyptic scenarios dominated by hordes of hungry zombies. The idea is to annihilate these creatures with the aid of an arsenal of weapons, which will be unlocked as the user progresses in the game.Unlike the Niantic game, which has chosen populated areas to deposit pokémons, this app offers the same dimension of zombies in rural and urban areas. "That was one of our concerns," Clayton Neuman told Variety. "Our fan base is huge and diverse and it's not just concentrated in urban areas, so it does not matter where you are, everyone should have access to various missions," he explains.The app is available for iOS and Android and it's free.
