Twitter will 'clean' your followers
In order to have more accurate data on the actual number of users, Twitter will stop counting disabled accounts. In a statement released this week, the San Francisco-based company said that these accounts will no longer be part of the number of actual users, which may bother some users, especially those with more followers."Many people will notice a decrease of four or fewer followers, but others who have more followers may experience a more significant drop," said Vijaya Gadde of the Twitter security team. She added that this measure is important because "accuracy and transparency make Twitter a more reliable platform."But, after all, what are the disabled accounts? Vijaya Gadde explains that these are accounts that were created by real people, but that at some point it is no longer possible to guarantee that these people continue to use and control them. And it's this detail that differentiates disabled accounts from spam or robots accounts. "Malicious automated accounts typically show spam behavior from the outset and are increasingly predictable," she added. On the other hand, disabled people are characterized by presenting different behaviors from one moment to the other as having a significant increase in the volume of answers or mentions to people who do not follow a certain account.
