Shudu, the "digital supermodel" who is a success on Instagram
The concept of digital avatar is well known among gamers but is taking the first steps in fashion in the form of Shudu, a "digital supermodel" that has gained increasing attention in social networks. Even Rihanna's makeup brand, Fenty Beauty, shared one of the South African 'model' publications.WWD tells that Shudu is a creation of the professional photographer Cameron-James Wilson, who at age 28 has already photographed models like Gigi Hadid or Pia Mia. Wilson created Shudu using the Daz 3-D program in early 2017 and in April of that year shared the first publication on the Shudu Instagram. To get a sense of the success of this 'supermodel', Shudu has more than 120,000 followers in the social network.Although it does not pose an immediate threat to the world's greatest models, it is undeniable that Shudu could become one. Although many imagine the possibilities, Shudu and its creator are also being critics. "A white photographer has found a way to profit from black women without even having to pay one," writes a social media critic.
