SAMSUNG

Brand designs speakers that can replace headphones

Listen to music in a personal way without earphones or headphones. This is a reality that Samsung wants to promote with its S-Ray audio technology - which works with what is known as ultrasonic modulation. In practice, with it the user can listen to songs through a beam of sound that comes from tiny speakers and goes directly to your ears.
Samsung had introduced its prototype "miniature speaker" miniature at CES 2018 in January. Now the Korean manufacturer got the permission it needed to start developing the S-Ray audio technology.
The project will come out of the paper through a startup created and financed by the company itself. Check out, below, a video in which the CNET editor shows the prototype in operation:

S-Ray. Beam sound directly to your ears. Tech like this could replace your headphones someday.
