Microsoft Soundscape helps to create visual
map based on sounds
The app uses 3D audio technology to ensure it captures information about objects and people in the vicinity, helping the blind and visually impaired to build a visual map that makes it easy to move around.Microsoft had already developed the technology with the use of special headphones, conducting sound through the bone, but also can use stereo or in-ear headphones. The app uses your phone's GPS and signals points of interest, roads or intersections, and works more efficiently if audio beacons have been installed at specific points that help guide the blind. In the "my location" area you can have a description of where you are and what is in front of you, but there is also information about the immediate ones ahead and in front of you.The technology had already been tested with Windows Phone but now Microsoft has released an iOS application that allows the blind to "see" the objects around them with the help of an app.
