BMW continues its research and development efforts in electrification for the future of its vehicles. And the best way to do it is by participating in Formula E, an increasingly important championship. Thus, the Munich brand has just presented its new single-seater for what they claim to be the 'electric Formula 1'. The name of this single seat that appears in the images is BMW iFE.18.
Born from a close collaboration between the BMW sub-brand and the BMW Motorsport sub-competition, the BMW iFE.18 will fight every race in Formula E's fifth season.

The Bavarian brand did not want to give concrete numbers, just wanted to compare some values with those of your electric vehicle. Compared to the BMW i3, "the BMW iFE.18 is about 50% lighter, 66% more compact and produces 100% greater output." He also commented that it achieves rotations 400% higher than its urban electric. Undoubtedly, the experience gained in the development of the single seat and what will be collected during the championship, will be of great use to apply in your future electrified models.
Jens Marquardt, director of BMW Motorsport, stated during the presentation of the BMW iFE.18 that "after months of excellent collaboration between race production and development engineers, we can now all see the result in action. This Formula E project saw the most remarkable transfer of technology between production and motoring in the history of BMW. "
Presented by BMW's official driver Tom Blombqvist at the BMW & Mini Driving Academy in Maisach, Germany, the BMW iFE.18 will hold its first official test on the track in Calafat (Spain) along with the other Formula E teams from April 17-19.
