It is a niche market but Huawei continues to bet on partnering with Porsche Design for its top-of-the-range luxury, and the new Mate RS that was unveiled yesterday in Paris alongside the new P20 range is already the third generation of smartphones that result from this connection between the two brands. As it has already happened, the new smartphone combines the best of Mate and P technology and brings more storage capacity, a special stylized design, and some innovation. In this case the highlight goes to the double fingerprint reader, which combines a rear sensor next to the cameras and the first front-of-the-screen fingerprint reader, the first of its kind, surpassing Apple and Samsung. The 6-inch screen is OLED and has rounded edges, featuring 2K quality. Inside the smartphone has the Kirin 970 processor with artificial intelligence, 6 GB of RAM and a storage of 256 GB or 512 GB, depending on the version presented. The camera system is the same integrated into the Huawei P20 Pro, with the triple camera developed in partnership with Leica but placed more centrally in the back of the phone. The system combines three sensors with the main 40 MP RGB camera that is paired with another 20 MP monochrome sensor and an 8 MP sensor with 3X telephoto.

The battery has 4.000mAh and supports fast charging, similar to the P20 and P20 Pro, and the phone is IP67 certified water and dust resistant.
The sleek design and sleekness and combination of the two fingerprint readers bring added convenience for use in situations where you need to pick up the phone and unlock it with the back fingerprint, or where it is placed over the table and screen is the best location to "wake up" and turn on your smartphone. Of course there is still face recognition and the option of PIN and standard, but this is an innovation that was already expected and that puts Huawei back in first place in this category.

But not everything is good news. As with previous models, the Huawei Mate RS comes at a heavy cost ... The 256GB version costs 1,699 euros, while the 512GB version costs almost 2,000 euros.Still, as happened with the Mate 10 Porsche Design that arrived in stores in Portugal last Christmas, the possibility of bringing this model to the Portuguese market is being studied."Last year we launched Mate 10 Porsche Design in Portugal, the most expensive Android device on the market, and we had a good acceptance of a differentiating experience for customers looking for different and innovative experiences.
