Sawyer é o novo empregado de um café em Tóquio e é... um robô
Sawyer is the new cafe clerk in Tokyo and is ... a robot
A coffee shop in Tokyo, Japan, has a new employee. His name is Sawyer and he's a robot.Sawyer debuted at the Henna Café counter this week. Through a scanner, the robotic arm reads the bead of the purchased beverage and welcomes customers as it serves them."Would you like some delicious coffee?" The employee asks, with a display of animated eyes. "I can do better than any human here," he says, quoted by the Associated Press.Wipe the coffee beans, fill the filter and pour the hot water into the paper cup, making up to five coffees at a time. Each drink costs 3 dollars (about 2.40 euros) and only takes a few minutes to prepare. The robot also knows how to work with other automatic machines, in order to serve other drinks like cappuccino, hot chocolate or green tea.One of those responsible for the new space explained that this is not just a question of efficiency, because in Sawyer's case it takes only one person to supervise it. "We also want the robot to entertain our customers so it is not like buying coffee from an automatic machine," he said.
