LG, Sony and HTC promise 5G smartphones in 2019
Two months after the approval of the technical sheet setting the standard for 5G links, the industry is now starting a race that will end with the crowning of the leading company in the segment. And the smartphone market, as it could not be, already "boils".According to an announcement from Qualcomm, which is developing a chip that ensures 5G connectivity for mobile phones, there are already several companies committed to the launch of mobile equipment in 2019, which will benefit from the integration of this component. LG, Sony and HTC are just three names of a group that still counts with Asus, Xiaomi and ZTE.In order for users to enjoy the full speed of the 5G, it will be necessary for the operators to match the appropriate infrastructures, which ensure the signal coverage. Qualcomm will also help some of these companies conduct the first tests over the next few months. The Vodafone Group is part of this range.Despite all the seemingly favorable scenario for the implementation of 5G, it is unlikely that Portuguese consumers will be able to enjoy their full capacity as early as 2019. The first demonstrations of 5G in national territory occurred only last October, in Aveiro, with Ericsson and Vodafone Portugal at the helm of the operations, followed by Altice a few days later. Spectrum licensing, however, should only be finalized by the end of next year.
