Hackers Help US Department of Defense Find Security Vulnerabilities
The United States government has challenged military and hackers from all over the world, including Portugal, to find vulnerabilities on Air Force pages. Like previous initiatives, under the HackerOne design, participants earned monetary rewards for every bug found.The Hack the Air Force 2.0 results report revealed 106 vulnerabilities in about 300 US Air Force public pages. In total, over $ 100,000 in rewards were distributed. The highest prize was $ 12,500, a record in the program.On the first day of the event, on December 9, 55 possible vulnerabilities were detected and fixed in just 9 hours.Peter Kim, a representative of the United States Air Force, pointed out to Businesswire the importance of enhancing cyber security by building relationships with researchers for the future.

The HackerOne program started in 2016 with the Hack the Pentagon, promoted by the Department of Defense, with more than 3000 vulnerabilities discovered.
