The Danish side of facebook: Danish justice accuses more than 1,000 young people for sharing child pornography on Facebook
The Danish authorities consider that the shared material, which consisted of two videos and a photograph of a couple at the age of 15, constitutes a violation of the law on the distribution of child pornography, which, according to the police in the Scandinavian country, is punished with fines and may be entitled up to two years in prison. The frequency with which the material was shared drew the attention of Facebook, who warned the US authorities. These, in turn alerted the European Police Office (Europol), EFE reports."It is a very large and complex case that has taken a long time to investigate and has serious consequences for those involved in spreading this kind of material," Danish police said in a statement.Flemming Kjaerside of the country's cybercrime unit stressed that it is a serious crime that "could have serious consequences for the future", and the conviction for a crime of this kind lasts for at least 10 years in the criminal record of a person. The fact that the disclosure is made on a private network, in this case through Messenger, does not reduce the severity of sharing. Most of the defendants shared content on a few occasions, but there have been hundreds who have done so.
