Robots can "steal" jobs from 800 million people in 13 years
The warning had already come through the mouth of Sophia, the first artificial intelligence in history to receive citizenship, which at the Web Summit explained that robots will not harm humans, but "we'll take your jobs off."Now a report from the McKinsey Global Institute reveals that between 400-800 million workers worldwide may lose their jobs to robots and to automation in 13 years, equivalent to more than a fifth of the current global workforce .

Machine operators, fast food workers and administrative staff are among the most affected, as well as the more developed countries such as the US, with about 25% of the work to be automated compared to 9% in emerging countries such as India. This difference is explained by the fact that less developed countries have a lot of cheap labor and less financial resources to invest in automation, which, as Wired points out, could mean that their middle classes will continue to thrive longer than developed countries. The study also notes that although there are transitional jobs, in many cases it will be necessary to learn new skills and functions. But, according to Susan Lund, co-author of the report, "in most cases, there will be enough work for all of us."
