DIGITAL LIFE

Other than iPhone 15, more and more people are buying “dumbphones”

In recent months, there has been an increasing trend to buy so-called “dumbphones”, the “dumb” phones that seemed to have practically disappeared after the arrival of smartphones.

Especially between the generation ZMore and more people are buying a Nokia or other “classic” mobile phone as a second mobile phone without the advanced features of smartphones.

Many do it to stay more focused or to detach the push from the hundreds of notifications that arrive every day and from the infinite scroll on social networks.

Gen Z, also defined as the generation of “digital natives”, is the one that most of all has experienced the transition from old mobile phones to new smartphones and it is they who are driving the rebirth of dumbphones. But not only. The latest data shows that even the youngest have started buying Nokia mobile phones to use instead of smartphones on certain occasions.

These devices are therefore experiencing a resurgence as cheap second phones, allowing you to detach yourself from constant notifications and the lure of endless scrolling, without losing the ability to text and make calls in an emergency.

Some dumbphone they’re indeed as dumb as models from the pre-smartphone era, but most make some concessions to modern technology, such as color screens, Bluetooth for wireless headphone use, and a camera. Their low cost makes them extremely convenient as a secondary device.
