The total sample of crypto-coin mining malware grew by 86 percent between April and June last year, according to McAfee Labs latest cybersecurity report.The company indicates that more than 2.5 million new malware samples have been identified to mine virtual currency in the second quarter. By comparison, the number of attacks in the first three months of the year had been about 2.9 million, representing a 629% increase compared to 400,000 samples in the fourth quarter of 2017.It also points out that malicious software for mobile devices has grown again for the second consecutive quarter, this time 27%. Customers in South America reported the highest infection rate of 14%. In annual terms, the growth of mobile malware was 42%.Malicious solutions designed to exploit vulnerabilities that have not yet been corrected have increased 151 percent.
