Microsoft will (even) discontinue Skype Classic in November
Starting November 1, Skype 7, known as Classic, will cease to work on computers, followed by mobile devices and tablets, on the 15th of the same month. This action was to take place in early September, after the launch of Skype 8 in July. But many users were outraged that some of the features, especially in the desktop version, have been modified and simplified.Users petitioned Change.org to ask Microsoft to keep at least the desktop version running for business use. Among the features that users complained about that they will lose is the ability to keep multiple communications simultaneously in the application on different screens. Full control of the application and how the messages are displayed are other requests made.Faced with the complaints, Microsoft has decided to postpone the final transition for two months, saying it is available to listen and respond to requests made. In the last update of the Skype blog, the company says it is working continuously on most of the suggested features. The application has been updated with the possibility of recording the call and the possibility of searching for topics in the conversations is being tested. In the future, Skype will allow adding phone numbers to existing contacts, giving more control over availability status, among other features, thus justifying the closure of the classic version of the application as of November 1.
