European rules are being reviewed and Brussels seeks new input on the impact of AI
As part of the Digital Markets Regulation review process, the European Commission launched a public consultation and a new questionnaire on AI to gather input on the impact of the rules and the new challenges posed by the technology.
The European Commission is collecting input on how the Digital Markets Regulation (DMA) can foster the creation of fairer and more competitive digital markets, including in the Artificial Intelligence sector.
The EU executive's public consultation is accompanied by a questionnaire on AI, inviting companies, organizations, and citizens to share their opinions.
As the European Commission explains, the process is part of a review of the DMA, approved in 2022, with the aim of assessing the law's effectiveness in promoting fairer digital markets, analyzing the DMA's impact on businesses, and identifying areas for improvement, taking into account the new challenges posed by AI-based services.
All information collected will be incorporated into the DMA review report, which the European Commission expects to present to the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union, and the European Economic and Social Committee in May 2026.
According to the European Commission, anyone interested in submitting their contribution can do so until September 24th by following the instructions on its platform.
