Adobe launches Photoshop for Android with AI capabilities

Adobe announced the launch of Photoshop for Android (operating system), in a public beta version available since June 3.

This initiative aims to expand the company's presence in the mobile segment and reach a new generation of creative users, especially in markets with a high prevalence of Android devices.

With this new application, the professional capabilities of Photoshop reach the Android mobile ecosystem, with an interface adapted for creators who use their smartphone as their main visual production tool.

The launch of Photoshop for Android is part of Adobe's global strategy to attract the so-called "Next Gen Pros", creators aged between 13 and 24, who mainly produce and share content from mobile devices.

The Android application includes editing tools using artificial intelligence, layers, masks, background replacement and object removal. Adobe highlights the integration with its ecosystem, allowing users to start a project on their mobile phone and continue it in Photoshop Web, accessible on desktop computers.

From a technical standpoint, Photoshop for Android will use artificial intelligence models processed on the device itself, which allows it to work even without an internet connection. It is expected that, after a period of stabilization, the application will adopt a hybrid model, alternating between local and cloud processing, depending on network availability.

The public beta phase of Photoshop for Android, already available on the Google Play Store, offers free access to all features, including premium tools that will be identified as “free to try” for a limited time.

The second phase of the launch is scheduled for August 12, with the introduction of a subscription model. The premium plan will include 100 generative credits per month, 100 GB of storage and full access to Photoshop Web.

An Adobe official said that the company seeks to make creativity accessible anywhere and on any screen, allowing projects to move between different devices.

This flexibility is considered essential for the new generation of creators, who value integrated and intuitive user experiences.

User feedback during the beta phase will be relevant to the future development of the app. The app will be available in more than 15 languages and requires Android devices with at least 6GB of RAM and Android 11 or higher.

This launch reinforces Adobe’s goal of providing professional-grade tools on mobile platforms. In this way, the company is adapting to the visual content production habits of a new generation of creators, consolidating its offering in the field of digital innovation.
