Xperia 10 VII set to take center stage in mid-range

Sony is preparing to bolster its mid-range smartphone offering with the launch of the Xperia 10 VII. Several recent leaks and reports have confirmed the existence of this new model, which is expected to hit the market in October. This move comes at a time when the Japanese brand has opted not to launch a new version of the Xperia 5 series for the second year running, signaling a change in strategy for its mobile device portfolio.

The Xperia 10 VII has been identified in several databases, with different model numbers assigned to regional variants, indicating a planned global distribution. Choosing October to present the new device represents a change from Sony's usual schedule, which traditionally launched the Xperia 10 series during the spring or early summer. This decision may be related to the intention of positioning the new model in an upper mid-range segment, filling the space previously occupied by the Xperia 5 line.

According to available information, the Xperia 10 VII should maintain the 6.1-inch OLED screen with Full HD+ resolution and 21:9 format, characteristic of the brand. This time, the panel is expected to offer a refresh rate of 120 Hz, providing greater fluidity in browsing and viewing content. Inside, the device could feature a Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processor and 8 GB of RAM, although there is a possibility that Sony will opt for an even more powerful solution, should it decide to strengthen its presence in the mid-high segment.

In terms of photography, the Xperia 10 VII should be equipped with a 50-megapixel main camera, reinforcing Sony's commitment to image quality. Battery life also promises to be one of its strong points, thanks to a 5,000 mAh battery, which should guarantee a full day of intensive use without difficulty. Among the exclusive features, the presence of the traditional physical shutter button, a signature of the brand's smartphones, also stands out.

Sony's strategy leaves aside the compact Xperia 5...The absence of a new Xperia 5, confirmed by several sources, marks a shift in Sony's approach to the smartphone market. The Xperia 5 series, known for its more compact format and high performance, will not have a new version for the second year in a row. This decision is partly the result of a change in users' purchasing habits, who have preferred to migrate to larger and more complete models, such as the Xperia 1.

With the Xperia 10 VII, Sony shows that it is aware of market trends and seeks to consolidate its position in the mid-range, betting on a balanced, modern device with solid arguments to win over new users. The launch in October promises to clarify the brand's new direction in the smartphone universe.
