Bose Reveals New SoundLink Max Waterproof Wireless Speaker
American audio brand Bose has revealed that it’s adding a new product to its acclaimed SoundLink Bluetooth speaker range with the introduction of the SoundLink Max. This new and portable speaker offers plenty of power, rugged durability and that legendary big Bose sound.
The SoundLink Max is ideal for getting parties started thanks to something called the Bose Articulated Array. This arrangement uses three drivers across the front of the speaker to create a wide stereo soundstage that projects from the speaker.
Two custom-designed passive radiators provide a big bottom end for the SoundLink Max. Bose says that the same technology used in its soundbars and digital signal processing minimizes distortion so the speaker can reproduce a full and natural sound regardless of what’s being listened to. Bose claims the result is a system that lets you hear every instrument, clear vocals, no matter where you’re listening or where the speaker is placed.
The SoundLink Max has adjustable EQ settings using the Bose app, including bass, mid-range, and treble. The speaker’s enclosure is made from steel that is powder-coated and silicone-wrapped for a high-end look. The construction is designed to withstand bumps and bangs. The coating is guaranteed not to peel or flake, plus it’s resistant to corrosion and UV light.
Thanks to an IP67 rating, the speaker is resistant to water, dust, rust and shocks, making it ideal for use by the pool, on a boat or at the beach and park. Weighing in at 2.27kg, the SoundLink Max has an integrated and detachable rope handle that makes it easy to pick up and carry. An optional rope carrying strap is also available for carrying over the shoulder, plus there are four optional color handle accessories for customizing the speaker’s appearance.
The SoundLink Max can keep the party going from day into night with up to 20 hours of playtime on a single charge. And if your phone battery runs low, the speaker’s USB-C port will charge a mobile device so you can carry on streaming tunes for the party.
This new Bose speaker will be available in Black or Blue Dusk finishes. Connectivity is via Bluetooth 5.3 and the speaker supports SBC and AAC audio codecs making it compatible with all Bluetooth sources, including Apple iPhones. For high-definition audio, there is also support for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sound which uses the aptX™ Adaptive codec, which automatically adjusts for lossless streaming. Snapdragon Sound technology offers more seamless and robust connectivity with premium Android devices.

The SoundLink Max also includes Google Fast Pair for easy Bluetooth pairing with Android devices. An AUX input lets users enjoy music from any legacy device with a 3.5mm audio jack so you can hitch up a vinyl turntable or a CD player. A shortcut button on the speaker can be used for AUX switching or customized to enable Spotify Tap.
Pricing & Availability: The Bose SoundLink Max will be available from June 4 priced at $399 / £399 / €449 and can be pre-ordered from May 14.
