Company unveils two iPad Air variants with 128 GB base storage and M2 SoC

Apple has announced two iPad Air variants with 11-inch and 13-inch screens. Both are powered by an Apple M2 chip and come with 128 GB of base storage. They are up for pre-order now on Apple's website.

In a series first, Apple has unveiled two new iPad Air variants today, as foretold by earlier leaks. The original 11-inch iPad Air is here to stay, and a new 13-inch variant has been added to the roster (no mini-LED screen, unfortunately). There are a few under-the-hood updates as well, such as an Apple M2 SoC and a 12 MP front camera.

The new iPad Air variant also gets Wi-Fi 6E. Otherwise, everything is the same, including its aluminum chassis, Touch ID, 5G and compatibility with the Apple Pencil. However, the base variant now comes with 128 GB of storage (vs 64 GB), with the maximum limit increased to 1 TB. This was long overdue as 64 GB is comically low for a tablet launched in 2024.

Thankfully, the extra storage does not come with a corresponding increase in price. The 11-inch iPad Air with 128 GB of storage will set you back by $599. Its 13-inch version with the same specs will retail at $799. You can pre-order the iPad Air now and it will be available for purchase via retail channels next week.
