Palm scanning payment system from the e-commerce giant that allows you to pay for products in US stores arrives on smartphones
Amazon One, a system that allows you to pay for products in US stores via palm scanning, now has an app for iOS (iPhone) and Android. With this, it will be possible to take a photo of the palm and set up an account, allowing the user to scan the palm in places that support the verification technology. The information is from The Verge.
Previously, Amazon required users to visit physical locations to sign up for Amazon One. Palm scanning allows you to make a purchase or verify a user's age, based on the data linked in their Amazon account.
You can use the Amazon One system to pay for products at the entire US Whole Foods supermarket franchise and some Panera Bread stores, as well as in more than 150 stadiums, airports, gyms and convenience stores.
How hand scanning is performed using the Amazon One system
Amazon One uses generative artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze the structure of palm veins and create a “unique numeric and vector representation”;
This unique record is recognized when the user scans their hand in the store;
When registering your palm on your phone, AI is used to match the palm photo provided on your phone with near-infrared images from an Amazon One device;
The user needs to add a payment method to the app and upload a photo of their ID if they plan to use the service for age verification;
It is also possible to link loyalty programs, season passes and gym memberships to your account.
There is still some resistance in the US to the use of this type of technology, due to privacy concerns. But Amazon says the palm and vein images are immediately encrypted and sent to a highly secure zone within AWS, the company's cloud provider.
