MOUNTAIN

Makalu Max: the customizable gaming mouse

Makalu Max comes with two alternate side parts, but the company also offers its model files for download, editing, and 3D printing.

Mountain, known for its products that can be customized in many ways, has released a new gaming mouse. The customization possibilities of the Makalu Max gaming mouse are not limited to those included in the package, the company also officially supports 3D printed parts.

The eye of the Makalu Max gaming mouse is PixArt's PAW3370 sensor, which offers 19,000 DPI resolution at its best. The sensor is capable of 400 IPS and tracks accelerations of 50G. The mouse's main buttons are implemented with Kailhi GM 8.0 switches, which promise a lifetime of up to 80 million clicks. RGB lighting, vital for gaming performance, has been taken into account with the ring of light around the roller and the island containing two buttons. In total, the mouse has eight programmable buttons, three of which are located on the left side of the mouse.

Mouse customization options start at the sides. The package comes with two options: the sides with the wide tail of a very traditional gaming mouse, or the sides with a wide base that offers ample support for both the thumb and little finger. If the alternatives are not to your liking, the company offers 3D files for download and free editing in STL format, in addition, of course, to instructions to obtain the best result.

More customization is offered by the base of the mouse and its gravity control system. The user can optionally add pressure rings around the mouse sensor. The metal rings offer not only customizable extra weight, but also the ability to move the mouse's center of gravity; some of the tires are equipped with a cutout so that the weight is concentrated on one side only.

The mouse communicates with the computer wirelessly at a frequency of 2.4 GHz or via a USB-C cable. Regardless of the connection method, the mouse updates its status with a frequency of 1000 hertz. A total of five different user profiles can be stored in the mouse to take with you.

Mountain Makalu Max is available immediately and costs from the company's own online store 89.99 euros, including tax, but shipping costs are added. In addition to the mouse itself, it comes with a braided USB-C – USB-A cable, RF receiver for 2.4GHz wireless frequency, two alternate sides, three snap rings and stickers. A warranty on the mouse is available for two years.
