Arcane: Bad spell for season 2

The successful animated series that takes place in the world of the popular video game League of Legends (LoL) wowed many with its first season and quickly became one of the best video game adaptations and one of the highest rated TV series in quite some time (100% on Rotten Tomatoes).

Not long after the success of the first season, a second attempt was given the green light by Netflix and the development company Riot Games. Riot CEO Nicolo Laurent said on Twitter that the series won’t take as long as Season 1 to develop, but “it won’t come in 2022.” This led many to speculate that Arcane Season 2 would be ready in 2023.

In a new interview with Chinese media outlet Billibilli, Laurent has now revealed that Arcane Season 2 won’t be coming in 2023. He noted that “unfortunately we’re not going to see it this year” for two reasons. The first was that the team is trying to create a quality result and they “don’t want to rush it”. The second reason was that “they didn’t know if Season 1 would be successful, so they delayed starting Season 2.
